A Top Tier Shower Cleaner: Hear from Our Fans

September 30, 2020

Bar Keepers Friend is a top-tier shower cleaner and has been for several decades – but don’t take our word for it! In this post, you can read what a few of our fans have to say.

I wish I had taken before photos of my shower because what I’m about to share I did on my shower at home. My home was built in 1998, and my shower has endured 22 years of hard water. (Maybe I should invest in a water softener.) It was ugly. All of it—the shower stall, faucets, fixtures, and the shower door. Sick of looking at all that build-up, I decided to use some BKF. As I was wrapping up, my wife popped her head into the bathroom and cried, “It’s shiny!” It sure was!

What BKF Fans Had to Say about Cleaning Their Showers

You don’t need some expensive product!

“We recently moved, and the previous owners told me how I needed to go online and order this expensive cleaning product to remove the rust from our very hard water. I decided to try a “tried and true” method. I wish I would have gotten a before, but this was during. Only scrubbed for about a minute, and you can see how orange everything became! The bottom was after rinsing! No expensive product here, but fantastic results! It worked better than I ever thought! Hard water with rust was new to me, but BKF helped me transition beautifully!” –Mary D

Honestly, the picture says it all!

This testimonial comes from a Chilean grocer. It isn’t in English (it’s in Spanish), but the picture is really all you need.

“El baño de tu casa u oficina dice mucho que tipo de persona eres!!! Por eso puedes cambiar tu imagen fácilmente. Visita nuestra tienda y todo será más fácil.” — Distribduidorapillan

Translation: “The bathroom in your home or office says a lot about the type of person you are!!! You can easily change your image. Visit our store and everything will be easier.”

“I Have tried various products to clean the grime and water build-up from the shower. I was ready to call it quits but decided to give BFK a try. The results were nothing less than astonishing! Barely any elbow grease and in less than half an hour, and my shower door and floor are like new again!” — Alyssa

How to Clean Your Shower Doors

“If you have glass shower doors riddled with soap scum, worry no more. Sprinkle some Bar Keepers Friend on a wet sponge and wipe over your doors. For stubborn scum, let this solution sit on the surface for a minute and then wipe clean.” — Taste of Home

How to Clean Your Faucet and Fixtures

“This is the easiest and most effective way to clean the bathroom and will save time and money. Hard water stains and rust can make a bathroom fixture look old and outdated. Don’t replace it, just restore it with Bar Keepers Friend.” – Muckywump. Here’s a video showing how BKF renews an old tub faucet.

How to Clean Your Fiberglass Shower Stall

What you’ll need

9 steps to a shiny new shower

  1. Wet the entire area.
  2. Shake Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser on all surfaces.
  3. Begin by cleaning ½ of the stall, start with the half furthest from the drain.
  4. Use a soft sponge in circular motions to clean the area.
  5. Repeat as needed before continuing to the second half.
  6. For difficult stains, make a paste of BKF and water, allow it to sit for one minute, and then wipe with a soft sponge.
  7. Wipe the second half with your sponge.
  8. Wash off all BKF with water.
  9. Use a soft dry cloth to polish the stall.

Are you tired of looking at your hard water stained shower stall, soap scum encrusted shower doors, and a rusty looking faucet? If so, I have two solutions for you, and both are inexpensive:

1. Turn your bathroom lights off and shower in the dark. However, be very careful because accidents happen.

Or number 2. Buy a can of BKF for a couple of bucks and watch it do its magic. It’s your choice!
